Offspring Fling 50% Off!

Offspring Fling 50% Off!
Before I head off to GDC, you should all know that Offspring Fling is currently available on Steam for 50% off! The sale only lasts for this week, so if you've been waiting to get your hands on Offspring Fling then now is your chance for the low low price of $3.99!

Now I'm about to get on a train that will take me across the desert and eventually to the Moscone center. See you at GDC!

Namiko Now Available

Namiko Now Available
Hot off the heels of just releasing Super Ninja Slash, I'm releasing another game into the public's hands. Originally available as a bonus game for the Indie Royale bundle back in December, Namiko is a relatively simple wave defense type game that can be played on OSX or Windows. (You can find the downloads on this page.)

When it was originally created, Namiko scored me 1st place at a local game jam held here in Phoenix at the University of Advancing Technology. The goal of the game is to defend your palace against hordes of attacking humanoid enemies that have three different powers. As the protagonist Namiko, you can scan these enemies and absorb their powers to make them your own. The game is about figuring out each enemy's weakness, and maximizing your chances of successfully defending by choosing the right weapon at the right time. I think the theme of the game jam was "adaptation."

Since the jam version I put a few more days work into it and just tried to generally polish up the experience. On a side note, releasing this game into the public officially makes this my 5th release between GDC 2012 and GDC 2013! I'll post more about that later though.

Have fun!

Stickers!

Hot of the presses from the fine folks at Stickermule! This is probably the only thing I'll be giving out at GDC this year. Only ordered 100 of them because I'm pretty bad at being social and handing out things like business cards and stickers and what not. If you want one just find me during GDC! They go really well on sketchbooks and laptops.

2012 JayisGames Awards

2012 JayisGames Awards
A few weeks ago Offspring Fling was nominated for an award over on JayisGames.com for best indie platformer of 2012. I didn't really think much of it since there was some pretty fierce competition in the category, but the other day I woke up to an email congratulating me on my win!

Well fancy that! I don't really know how this happened, but in the end all that matters is that I have a fancy gold coin internet image to display to everyone in the world. Thanks to everyone that voted for Offspring Fling!

Jottobots Now Available!

Jottobots Now Available!
YEAH! After three years hiding from the public, Jottobots is now available! The game only costs a single US dollar to enjoy for an eternity, DRM free.

Jottobots is a miniature exploration platformer, or a mini-metroidvania if you prefer. You start with five minutes on the clock to rack up as many points as you can through blowing up enemies, finding power ups, and stumbling across secret passage ways. Most of the art was done by J. Otto Seibold, and I did the programming, and some additional artwork as well. On the audio side, Josh Whelchel handled the music and Power Up Audio helped out with some sound mixing and a few sound effects.

I've now officially released three games in 2012! Offspring Fling!, Snapshot, and Jottobots... but I'm not finished! I made a promise to myself that before GDC 2012 I would release 5 games, so I have to figure out which two are next.

Oh and Snapshot is currently 50% off on Steam for just $4.99! Madness. Check it out!

Jottobots Releasing Soon!

Jottobots Releasing Soon!
Hey internet. I've had this project sitting around since about 2009 called Jottobots. It was originally a game created for the ARTxGAME collective, which pairs artists and game designers up to create something awesome. I collaborated with J. Otto Seibold (hence the name Jottobots) and it was a lot of fun! He created the characters and a lot of the artwork in the game, and I did all the programming and designing. I did some additional artwork as well, like the explosions and what not.

Jottobots turned out to be a miniature exploration game with arcade style scoring. The game is played under a time limit (which starts at 5 minutes but can be increased through time bonuses) and the goal is finding the exit but also grabbing a lot of points along the way. There are a couple of power ups and a decent sized map to fully explore, and the only way to get those maximum high scores to hunt down every secret the game has to offer.
