Offspring Fling Summer Sale

Offspring Fling Summer Sale

It's that time again! Offspring Fling is now available for 50% off on Steam for the duration of the Steam Summer Sale. It's hard to believe this game came out two years ago now. It feels like only yesterday I was working 14 hour days to get the game and the level sharing website ready for the Steam launch.

At some point soon I do want to have a proper postmortem post with all kinds of stats but I first need to make sure I'm able to post those stats without getting in trouble.

Offspring Fling Humble Store Sale

Offspring Fling Humble Store Sale

Just a quick heads up that Offspring Fling is available DRM free for 50% off over at the Humble Store! I'm not sure how long the discount lasts, but if you're still aching for a copy of the game then now's your chance to save a few bucks.

It's hard to believe it's been over two years since the game came out. It seems like only yesterday I was crunching 18 hours a day to get it ready for a release on Steam... those were fun times. The morning it actually launched I hadn't slept for 30-something hours, so that was pretty intense. Hopefully I can avoid that situation with future game launches.

Humble Weekly Sale!

Humble Weekly Sale!

Just a quick heads up, Offspring Fling is currently in the Humble Weekly Sale along with seven other amazing games.

This particular bundle is in support of the software and tools that we use to create our games, including FlashDevelop which was used for Offspring Fling.

It works the same way as a regular bundle, and you get more amazing games if you pay enough moneys. You also get Steam activations for all of the games.

Offspring Fling Sale

Offspring Fling Sale

Just a quick post to say Offspring Fling is once again available on Steam for 50% off its normal price, and I'll just give you the heads up now that it will not be featured as a flash sale or a daily deal unfortunately. There's also a new update available on the Steam beta branch that should improve the controller support and get rid of those nasty crash bugs that a few people were encountering. The password for the beta branch is iwannatestosf.

I also just want to say thank you for all the support from everyone out there. I never expected Offspring Fling to become the game it did, and because of awesome people buying the game I can keep being an indie developer for the time being. I also deeply appreciate the super fans of Offspring Fling out there that have analyzed every last pixel of the game and really pushed it to its limits. I knew I could count on the internet to destroy my developer times!

For those Offspring Fling super fans out there, Offspring Fling Momma plushes are also available from Frank 'n Stitch. These plushes are really awesome and lovable and worth every penny. They're also very easy to throw around at things.

Offspring Fling Plushies

Offspring Fling Plushies

You can now own your very own Momma from Offspring Fling thanks to Frank'N'Stitch! They're available right here on Etsy, along with an awesome Offspring Fling scarf. 100% home made!

I've had a lot of requests for plushies over the past year but couldn't really find a good way to make it happen until now. These plushies are also approved for flinging around a puzzle platforming level.

Arizona Indie Showcase

Arizona Indie Showcase

This past weekend the Phoenix Art Museum hosted the Arizona Indie Game Showcase along side the Art of Video Games exhibit. Offspring Fling was one of the games in the showcase, along with some other local indie games like Scale, Gravity Ghost, Aztez, and Growing. Offspring Fling is getting up there in age now for a video game, so it's not the most exciting game to demo, but I still had a lot of fun with it. There were a lot of super young kids playing the game which is a pretty unique experience!

Special thanks to Game CoLab for the photos!

A surprising number of kids were able to make it through a lot of the demo levels, with only some of the harder execution based challenges stopping them. It's always fun to show the game to new people, but it's especially fun and terrifying to show to kids since they're never afraid to just tell you how they feel about your game.

I also had an NES controller hooked up to the game, so it was pretty funny to hand it off to a lot of kids who didn't even know what an NES was. I talked to some high schoolers about game development during the show as well, and one of them said they wanted to make games ever since they got their first console... an Xbox.
