// I don't know why this works but it does (Today)

@Shin_Hogosha hahahah I saw it coming but I stayed until the end anyway (Today)

is there any better way to start your day than by watching the ssj2 gohan vs perfect cell kamehameha fight (Today)

@ayyang9 it'll stop moving (Yesterday)

@Data01 Hahah, well make it run in C# I guess and I could check it out ;p (Yesterday)

@ForestGameDev t.co/lR87R2gGmD (Yesterday)

Getting more and more stable, but the code is getting more and more messy ;_; t.co/PhmLyZwJHz (Yesterday)

Sometimes I feel like I can't draw anything and then I switch what brush I'm using and that somehow fixes it and I don't know why (Yesterday)

@infinite_ammo @ADAMATOMIC ahhh I love when I suddenly realize I have a lot of red letter media stuff to catch up on (Yesterday)

@infinite_ammo you see a wise man by the name of william shakesman once said brevity is the soul of wit (Yesterday)

@TommyRefenes w t fuck (Yesterday)

@IvoryOasis Really? I don't really see 2d games as having super varied needs as far as asset placement. Tiles and entities seems like enough (2 days ago)

@floatvoid Unity would be cool then I see someone have a nightmare experience with its source control or updating it and I'm like eehhhhh (2 days ago)

Really surprised that there hasn't been some sort of ultimate 2d level editor kickstarter yet like there was for 2d bone animators. (2 days ago)

@Capn_Andy some day I'll make it out to this place (2 days ago)

@realgreybob good ole Red Eye Rect (3 days ago)

@nico_m__ today was a good day of fixing edge cases and changing some of my logic, but I might be driving myself insane x_x (3 days ago)

okay done for the day but this thing is working pretty nice I think (I have a hover jump kinda thing going on) t.co/X9M2mjEo2E (3 days ago)

Well there's still some wonkiness to resolve in cases like this and sometimes slopes still cause stack overflows. >:( t.co/L2tVoiLHzg (3 days ago)

Goin' to the PAX10!

Goin' to the PAX10!

Earlier this morning me and my crew at Retro Affect finally got the green light to finally announce to the world that Snapshot is going to be in the PAX10, YEAH!

Check out all the games right here. There are some good ones in there, so I am super excited that Snapshot was able to squeeze into the selection somehow. Snapshot was also featured in the Boston Indie Showcase back at PAX East, so it also being in the PAX10 is some sort of back to back penny arcade super game selection combo, I think.

So now it's back to work on Snapshot to make sure it's looking good for the showcase!

PAX East: Day 3

PAX East: Day 3

And now for the final installment of the PAX East experience. It seems that I have completely exhausted my supply of shitty cell phone photos of the event, so this post will have significantly less photos.

We got back to our place of sleeping at about 11pm or so, so things were looking up this time as far as raw amount of sleep, but there was one problem: Daylight Savings Time. Yes, that's right, at exactly 2am time itself would bend around the will of man and advance by one hour in the blink of an eye. One less hour of sleep for the final day. It seems it was our destiny to only get 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night.

I think this time we actually slept in until maybe 8am instead of 6:30am. The demo was set to go for the day and we didn't have any bug fixes to get through before the doors opened to the public at 10am. Even though we had been lacking sleep for the past couple days, I didn't really feel that tired on the final day. The adrenaline of being so close to the end must've been keeping me awake. read more

Snapshot at PAX East

Snapshot at PAX East

Hey! Going to PAX East this year? GOOD, because Retro Affect will be there and we will be showing off the latest build of Snapshot. We're also going to be giving out a lot of cool stuff for people that swing by our booth.

It's all part of the Boston Indie Showcase, which features two other games along side Snapshot, so make sure that you stop by and check it out if you're going to be at PAX East. See you there! ;D

Hi there, my name is Kyle, and I'm a kid disguised as a grown up. I'm making video games and living the indie game developer life in Tempe, Arizona. Here you will find my thoughts, games, websites, doodles, and other stuff like that. I worked on Snapshot, Offspring Fling, and a whole bunch of other games. I also created and maintain Otter, a 2d game making framework. If you want to get a hold of me use the form on the bottom of the page, leave a comment, or just tweet at me. I try to post three times a week. Thanks for stoppin' by! You're the coolest.
